December 14th: Ralph Lalama at the Center- We are very excited to have saxophonist Ralph Lalama join us November 9th at the Center to perform with the Joey Berkley Band. Three-time Grammy Award winner Ralph Lalama is a solid fixture of the New York Jazz scene and is respected world-wide. Through his work in the Joe Lovano Nonet and the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra and more, Mr. Lalama has shown himself to be a grand, modern-minded storyteller; a first-class jazz soloist. His latest release as a leader is the 2012 “Bop Juice: Ralph Lalama Trio, Live at Smalls.” Ralph Lalama’s playing reveals an enormous depth of musical heart and knowledge.  We are excited that he has taken time from his busy performance schedule to stop by and bring down the house with the Joey Berkley Band at the Center, a night you can’t experience anywhere else.

October 12th: Porter Carroll Jr. at the Center- Founder of Atlantic Starr and currently a member of the number one selling duo in the history of music, Hall of Famers, Daryl Hall and John Oates. Creator of the Evolution of Cabaret, which can be described as a bold and daring nightclub act for the modern world, Porter is a visionary and an invaluable talent. He also wow’s the crowds by bridging diverse traditions such as: Sacred & Secular, Juke Joint & Big City, African, European & Opera House in his work with a major philharmonic orchestra in Porter Carroll Jr.’s Symphony Rhythm and Blues. Porter’s breathtaking work can be heard and seen all around the world and we are glad to welcome him to our home.

July 13th: Shayna Steele at the Center- Schooled in jazz by her Godfather, self-taught and guided by her musician father and gospel by her choir director, the Grammy-nominated Michael McElroy, Steele began to develop her sound, blending new influences, from Ledisi to Rachelle Farrell, with her childhood icons Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and the Temptations. Her voice has remained high in demand with vocals on Hairspray (movie soundtrack), 2012’s The Bourne Legacy, Sex and the City 2, NBC’s Smash, 2008 Summer Olympic highlights on BBC, The Shanghai Restoration Project and HBO’s “The Sopranos”.

June 8th: Duane Eubanks at the Center– The Jazz trumpeter/composer/arranger/producer is a multi-talented force whose fiery blasts and sweet distinctive sound carry his horn into a musical space that defies categorization.

May 11th: Tony Kadleck at the Center– Tony Kadleck has been free-lancing in the New York area since 1986. After college (New England Conservatory & Manhattan School of Music), Tony did some touring with Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, and Blood, Sweat & Tears. His recording credits range from Dizzy Gillespie and Natalie Cole to Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross. In concert, Kadleck has performed with many greats, including Ella Fitzgerald, Stevie Wonder, Tony Bennett, and the Boston Pops.

April 13th: Joey Berkley Band at the Center – The Joey Berkley Band is firmly rooted in the jazz tradition and features Joey’s original compositions and arrangements. The band comes out swingin’ hard from the legacy of jazz greats Miles Davis, Monk and Coltrane. Joey has developed his “sound” by using these influences to create an original contemporary style, grabbing the listener with songs and playing that combines jazz with elements of funk, pop and classic R’n B.
