Course Schedule

Ensembles are $145 per month.

Classes are $100 per month, with the exception of the Young People’s Program which is $75 per month.

 Tuition assistance is available on request.

Monday

6:30 pm – 8:00 pm:  Improvisation Lab Advanced (Ensemble)

Using a hands on approach, students will work as an ensemble to understand and execute improvisation fundamentals including: chord/scale theory; basic harmonic progressions; learning how to listen, playing off a lead-sheet etc.

8:00 pm  – 9:30 pm:  Rock, R&B , Funk  etc ( Ensemble)

The focus of this group is learning classic repertoire within the broad genres of funk, rock and pop music.  Music Fundamentals and respecting stylistic differences within each genre is the priority.

Tuesday

6:00 pm – 7:00 pm: Young People’s

For young musicians just starting out or with little band experience.  All instruments welcome.  Program includes ensemble reading, introduction to improvisation, music theory and music history.

7:00 pm – 8:30 pm:  Jazz Ensemble C *

Students In Jazz Ensemble C usually have one to two years of playing experience, and may not have prior experience playing in ensembles.  Ability to read notes,  and basic knowledge of key signatures, scales, etc.  Typically students have been 5th through early high school.

Thursday

5:30 pm – 6:30 pm: Composition & Arranging

6:30 pm – 7:30 pm: Music Fundamentals

This class focuses on the basics of reading, rhythm and music theory.  Intended for the new musician with little or no experience

7:30 pm – 9:00 pm:  Jazz Ensemble B *

Students In Jazz Ensemble B usually have one to three years of playing experience, and may not have prior experience playing in ensembles.  Ability to read notes,  and basic knowledge of key signatures, scales, etc.  Typically students have been in middle school and early high school.

 

Sunday

4:00 pm – 5:30 pm  Music Theory and Beginning Improvisation

This course starts with the theory behind improvisation and uses a hands on approach, for students to learn how to practically apply and execute improvisation fundamentals including: chord/scale theory; basic harmonic progressions; playing off a lead-sheet etc.

6:00 pm – 8:00 pm  Jazz Ensemble A*

Students In Jazz Ensemble A usually have several years of playing experience, and have prior experience playing in ensembles.  Fluency in sight reading, and knowledge of all keys, scales, etc.  Current students are high school/college age and adult

* Placement in Jazz Ensemble A/B/C  is based on skill level of the student.
